Why am I not able to see my modules in Moodle?

There may be a number of reasons why you do not see the modules you selected to take in the Spring term or in the new academic year when you login to Moodle.

Before you can see your modules when you login to Moodle at the start of the teaching year/term, you will need to have:

  • selected your modules online, and
  • had an academic approve your module selection online.

'Approval' triggers an automated process that results you being enrolled on your module sites within 24 hours of being approved on a working day. Failure to accomplish either of the above will prevent you from accessing your module sites on Moodle. Please see your programme/module convener if you have this problem.

For modules with a teaching start date in October, student enrolments on the corresponding module sites will commence in late September. Hence, you would not normally see those module sites if you login to Moodle beforehand.

For modules with a teaching start date in January, student enrolments on the corresponding module sites typically commence in mid-December. Hence, you would not normally see those module sites when you login to Moodle before then.

A new installation of Moodle is created for the start of each academic year and students are enrolled on this Moodle site in September or October depending on when teaching starts. The "old" Moodle site remains available to staff and students for at least 2 academic years as an archive, but new module sites are not created on it.
